National Museum of History: National Historical and Cultural Artifacts Digital Collection Project

Introduction to the Project

The primary aim of the National Historical and Cultural Artifacts Digital Collection Project is to establish a complete and multimedia database for digitalized historical and cultural artifacts, preserving the collection and research in digitalized format, and incorporating all data and knowledge into the database for immediate management and use. For outside institutions, the Project introduces the G 2G concept and establish the environment and mechanism which provides users access to museum database via Internet Browser, hoping to make it easier for users to utilize museum resources and to learn and understand history and culture.

In 2002 the National Museum of History began to proceed with the Project. We digitalized artifacts, paintings and calligraphy, documents, publications and films. We aim to establish an accessible, real-time, diversified and rich study environment of the museum. Through high resolution scanning and photographing, we digitalize and preserve various artifacts, paintings, calligraphy and documents. With functions like intellegent search, internet search, display of educational topics, we hope to provide the public a space for sharing and learning information and resources, achieving the aim of sharing art and culture with everyone.
